Piscataway, Port Tobbacco, Potomac

Lunched at Port Tobbacco and reached Potomac by three in the afternoon. We attempted to go over it, but after we had rowed about a mile, the wind blew so violently, and night was coming on so fast, that we were obliged to go back...God showed us the benefit of returning, for the wind was very boisterous and the night snowy; so that without a miracle (which in such a case we had no right to expect) both we and our horses must have been lost.
