The Schools of Tudor Gloucester
10 September 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

As part of Gloucester History Festival’s City Voices, David Evans will be giving a talk on the development of education in Gloucester.
David will be talking about the pre-reformation almonry school at St Peter’s Abbey and the medieval grammar school in Longsmith Street, the various petty schools that existed across the city, the foundation of the Crypt and the changes at the Cathedral that led to the College (King’s) school and the choir school for choristers.
Former Gloucester teacher David Evans currently works as archivist at King’s School and is a trustee at Discover DeCrypt; he has developed a wide knowledge of the development of education in the city, which he hopes to publish soon in a book entitled ‘The Ancient Schools of Gloucester’.
