We are excited to be planning events for the Jubilee Weekend in June. There’ll be lots of fun activities for everybody to enjoy.
Our Small Ships Festival will be running alongside the city’s Tall Ships Festival throughout the Jubilee week. We challenge you to design, build and race your very own miniature ship – there will be prizes for the fastest and best….more information coming soon!
You can already book tickets for our Jubilee Tea Dance on Sunday 5 June at 3.00pm. We’ll have live music from the Tea Dance Band and the support of Gloster Swing Dance, who will also be running workshops during May for those of us who aren’t so confident of our swing steps! There will be tea and homemade cake served from vintage tea sets. This will be an occasion not to be missed!
To get you in the spirit, we’ll be running some workshops during May leading up to the Tea Dance. Young creative Jussara Nazaire will be helping people to create their own outfit for the occasion using vintage, second-hand and recycled materials. You can be as imaginative as you like – go for classic 1940s or try something different with a Steampunk flavour….
Have you admired those fantastic flower arrangements that appear for festivals, weddings and special events? We’ll be running two informal workshops to give you a chance to pick up some top tips and improve your skills. Then we’ll be getting together to decorate the church for the Jubilee weekend.
And still on the theme of decorations, join us for two workshops on making bunting and other fabric decorations. You’ll learn some simple sewing machine skills and enjoy the creative buzz of coming away with your own handmade strip of bunting.
Look out for our Frocks, Frills and Flowers Workshops for more information and booking.
